Tooth Fairy Pillow

Hi there & welcome to the May Arts Blog!!!  I’ve got a fun little idea for those of you that may have little people about to lose a tooth!  A tooth fairy pillow – to hang on their DOOR!  What a help this will be for that busy fairy!

Start off with some cute fabric – *warning* this is a very PINK pillow – but could easily be done in boy style too!   This was in my stash.  Then use some coordinating May Arts ribbon.

I’ve used C17 (1” pink sheer), WR09 (3/8” velvet ric rac)   and 353-17 (sheer woven rosettes).

I cut 2 strips of 3 rosettes & zig-zag stitched them together – this will be the tooth ‘pocket’.

Next I ran a basting stitch down the sheer ribbon to make it ruffle a bit – I didn’t need to pull on the thread much to get the amount of ruffle I was looking for.

I cut 2 – 6” squares of fabric & pinned the ruffle in 3 layers to the RIGHT side of the fabric. (I will again mention that I ‘wing it’ when I sew, so this part took more thought than it should have!)

I then pinned the rosette ‘pocket’ on the RIGHT side of the fabric – roughly in the middle.  I pinned the ric rac to the bottom of the pocket.

I sewed those pieces on and then attached a hanging ribbon.  (I also pinned the edges of the ruffle in, so that I didn’t sew them to the seam)

I laid the other piece of fabric on top & stitched the right sides of the fabric together.  I left an opening a couple of inches wide to turn it right-side-out.

I had my lovely assistant stuff it with poly-fill.

I then pinned the opening shut & stitched all the way around the top 3 sides.

My lovely assistant assured me that it is ‘Squealing cute’!

Thanks so much for stopping by – Hope you’ve been inspired!
