Teacher Flower Pot gift

Ahh… looks like April showers DO make May flowers…May “Arts” flowers that is 😉 So we are at the end of another school year.  I can think of no better way to celebrate than using some of our pretty May Arts ribbon and craft supplies to create the perfect teacher gift!

Here's a list of what I used in the project:

  • patterned paper- I used the Schoolhouse line from October Afternoon
  • buttons, dowel rod, styrofoam, double sided tape, jiffy pot

Cut your flowers out of paper. I used my Silhouette machine here.  You could also hand cut them. I decorated the centers with buttons and then attached my flowers to dowel rods with tape. The back didn't look too fancy, but no one really looks at the back…right? 😉

For the “leaves” I used, what else, green hues of May Arts ribbon! Here I used the organic stripe 385-58-46 and my new found favorite AKB15. Don't you just LOVE that gingham?!

I really liked the natural look of these little pots, but another idea would be to paint them or add paper. To decorate them a bit I used double sided tape around the edge and added a length of ribbon (RG33 & RG76) so that there was enough left over to make a pretty bow.

Some of the florists type styrofoam would have been great for this project. I didn't have any so had to improvise 🙂 I used some foam I found in a box that came with an appliance! I just cut it to fit in the pot …

..and then cut a circle out of patterned paper to fit the top. I adhered the paper with double sided tape.

Because this gift was for a teacher I typed the sentiment “Thanks for helping me “grow” this year”..cheesy? I thought it was cute 🙂 I cute it out in the shape of a leaf and attached it to a flower using the natural color SM10 twine.

I pushed the flowers into the pot, tucked a gift card in the back and sent them off for teachers to (hopefully) enjoy!

And all together with a cute chalkboard background–

I think they will like them 🙂

I hoped you enjoyed the tutorial today and it gave you an idea or two you might want to try! Let us know if you do and of course, if you have any questions leave us a comment. Have a great day and I will see you next month!
