Patriotic Mini Album
Hello to my fellow ribbon addicts! I hope you like what I have in store for you today…I haven’t done scrapbooking in ages, so this was a lot of fun. I’d forgotten how much I love juicy texture – I mostly make cards, so having all this much dimension and tactile intrigue is really enjoyable.
After finishing the video, I realized I didn’t answer some questions I’m sure will arise: yes, my dog is wearing a uniform! A soldier’s wife made it just for her in honor of the event. And the reason for Ciara receiving the honorary enlistment is that I send a different photo of her in every care package I mail overseas, so those who receive them feel like they’re getting to “know” her. A soldier from Minnesota put her in for the honor, and the ceremony took place at Fort Lewis, Washington. If you have other questions, please leave them in comments and I’ll answer for you.
Also, if you want to know how I did any element in this book, leave a comment about that and I’ll try to include it in a tutorial over the next few months for you if a text response doesn’t cover it.
So now for your comment question: do YOU scrapbook your animals? Am I alone in this?

I have never made a pet one, but now I will! I bought a bone album, and will use it today. Thanks for the inspiration. And I love the red white and blue scheme. I'm partial to red 🙂

Wow, Sandy, the album is fantastic! The ribbon works beautifully with all of the other elements. I digitally scrap my animals, but seeing this album makes me want to switch to this type of work. Love it!

Beautiful work here! Everything is laid out so nicely. I don't scrap animals…because we don't have any. Allergies….Wait a minute…I have done layouts for my friends with animals, though! And it was fun!!
Christie Proctor
I so love to see that other people also scrap their pets. Thanks – love it.

Love the way the ribbon is tied with twine across the front of the album to make a flag motif! So fun!
CharlieDK
Absolutely amazing idea and so well done. Imagine Ciara having such a special day meeting your heros. Thanks for showing and I must go and tell Fifty he is OK too even though he is not as famous as Ciara =0) Lovely ribbon and yes scrap jute is so much better than the hardware kind – that jute often smells like tar.
Lucy
No, I don't have pets, so not pictures or scrapbooking of them. There were some great ideas in the pics and video, though. I love the shabby effect with the distress inking, ribbon fraying & jute. Nice work!
Carmen
Beautiful! I love how the ribbon on the front cover is gathered with twine!
Sassy
Gorgeous, beautiful album. And, yes, I plan to scrap our little girl, a peke-a-poo. Love the ribbon!
Lynn
Beautiful album honoring a beautiful animal/event! Love the patriotism!

Sandy, as I mentioned on your blog, your album is so fantastic! I don't know when you squeeze in the time!!! Though my dogs and cat have now all passed away, I LOVE to scrap them and will continue until I run out of good photos! God bless!

We had to have our dog, Penny put to sleep a couple months ago. A little album like this would be perfect to have out to remember the extra something she brought to our family.

I don't have any animals to scrap! But I scrap wild animals!
Linda R
Beautiful album! Thanks for the tutorial and I love all the ribbons!

What a wonderfu story and a fabulous book. I haven't scrapped my dog yet. We just got her at the beginning of the year. My hubby's cousin passed away and she had become an animal hoarder and had 10 dogs, 2 pigs, 2 chinchlla and a parrot in a tiny apartment. Our little Molly was at the bottom of the totem pole in that group and we don't know where she was before his cousin got her. We think not in a very good place. She is the sweetest little gal ever. I'm sure I will be scrapping her soon. Just haven't had the chance yet.

Miss Ciara makes a great subject for your album! I've included my dog in albums. You rocked the ribbon on this project!
Penny L
Lovely mini, Sandy! Yes, I definitely DO scrap our animals (cats in our house!). Our most beloved Tiger passed away 1.5 yrs ago and just a few months back I did an entire 8×8 book memorializing him. I cried most of the way through the book, but now it brings all of us much happiness to look at it and talk about how much we loved/love him!
lori
so many great ideas here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great album 🙂

Wow, I would have never thought of using ribbon like that. And I have a new respect for the jute. 🙂

Ciara is so cute in this album. As soon as I get a dog, I'm going to make an album like this!

Fantastic album. Love the striped ribbon and your use of jute. I have taken photos of my goats but haven't put them in an album yet. I think we have photos of our cats somewhere too that haven't made it in an album yet.

Donna Nuce (Crafty Colonel)
By the way Sandy it is pleasure to know that i have served with Ciara in the same service! Such a wonderful member of the United States Army!
Donna Nuce (Crafty Colonel)
Yeah Ciara. Your album is beautiful. I do scrpbook my dogs and some of my best pages are of my dogs. We rescue Wiemeraners and have had over the years nine dogs so I do have quite a few scarpbook pages with my Wiems!
Cynthia T
This album is stunning! Ciara is so beautiful! And yes, I made a mini-album of my first pet cat, Otis. He was a rescued and special needs cat that led a fairly rough life before we adopted him. He left paw prints on my heart when he died 3 years ago this month. My current cat is Chloe, a healthy and loving rescued girl and I have enjoyed taking an unbelievable number of pictures of her and have happily created a mini-album for her as well.
Beth
Love your album! You did a fantastic job with the ribbon and all the other pieces. I love the story of how she was honored. I do scrap my pets. I have an album with pictures of them. The dogs are usually with people but the cats are usually by themselves or with another cat. Funny how that happens. I also made an album of all the zoos we have visited as a family.
Dolores A.
You really outdid yourself with this one and using all that lovely ribbon so creatively. As for the question…you know I have no pet so don't have an animal scrapbook, though it is a great idea for anyone with a beloved pet. But…I treasure the wonderful albums you've made for me on many of our family occasions, and thank you for these cherished memories.
Sandy Allnock
You're so welcome Mom! Hugs!

I do have albums scrapped of my fur babies and now that they are gone, I find great comfort in looking at them. Which reminds me I've got to scrap the pics of Macey's 1st birthday just recently celebrated so I'm going to CASE your idea! TFS
