That’s right!  I will select 3 of my very favorite ribbons from our upcoming summer releases & send them to 1 lucky winner!  All you have to do is post your comment telling me all of your top picks!   The winner will be announced on July 29th 2013, along with the brand new May Arts Ribbon Design Team!

So, without further delay here are the final projects:

Written Finalists:

Andrea Amu:

For my project I’ve created a Framed Monogram décor piece with a woven burlap background.  It was perfect for helping me to create the shabby chic look that I wanted in a décor piece for my home office.  I love the texture!

Cathi O’Neill:

For my project I did a layered ribbon flower, which I call my Boho Chic flower, lovely layers of May Arts ribbon, lace, beads and burlap trims. But I didn’t want to stop just with the tutorial to make the flower, I wanted to show many ways to use this flower. I have made hair clips and pins, a patchwork burlap pillow, a sweet summery burlap bag adorned with three of the flowers, a card and a layout! I also used the hair clip to show how it could become part of a gift by making it part of the package decoration and part of a card, these can be detached later as their own separate gift. I even decorated some shoes with the clips!  I hope you like my flower and my ideas for ways you can incorporate into wearable art, home decor, packaging and cardmaking and scrapbooking.

I decided to channel my stepdad’s school spirit and make this wreath.  He’s a graduate of the University of Utah so he will definitely appreciate this wreath.  Not to mention, it’s one of my favorite color schemes!  😉

For my Round 2 submission, I wanted to do something very ribbon heavy. Normally, I would play with paper and ribbon, but sometimes, I like to try something different. Lat year, I made Flip Flops for my daughter, so I thought I would make her a little something again. I decided to try my hand at some ribbon garland! My daughters room is very colorful, so I thought this would be a fun project.

I designed and made a bunch of headbands along with some interchangeable floral clips, so I can mix and match them.  Making these could become very addictive! Most of them are pretty easy, even the one that was most time consuming was easy to put together, just took time.

I really wanted to create a baby quilt/wall hanging that was fun, bright, cheerful and had a lot of texture.  I think I accomplished that with my “You are my Sunshine” quilt.  This quilt is fairly simple and could be created in a weekend.

I made this Steampunk- wonky cake out of paper and ribbons from the bottom up.  I was having way to much fun and found it hard to stop myself.  With some of the left over ribbons I made a card to go with the cake in the style I love.  Waste not, want not, right?!

For the final project, I created a gift box decorated with May Arts Ribbons and Graphic 45 French Country papers.  The box contains a banner made from small envelopes decorated with May Arts Ribbon and strung with May Arts Ribbon.  Each pocket contains a packet of flower seeds, also decorated with ribbon from May Arts.  The tutorial focuses on directions for creating a simple bow making tool, with step by step photos and instructions for making the tool and tying single, double and triple bows.

I love that May Arts Ribbon offers denim on a spool.  Make that into a ruffle and you got a pretty accent to add to any project.  For this DIY I layered on the ruffles to make a fabulous shabby chic pillow.

I have always loved making ribbon roses! I usually place it on paper crafts, but one day I made a corsage and boutonniere for my younger brother’s homecoming and I saw the endless possibilities with ribbon roses! I have always wanted to create a rose bouquet as home decor, but for this project, I thought it would be fun to create a bridal bouquet!

Wow!  I can hardly believe I am sharing my submission for round 2 of the May Arts design team call.  I am super excited!  For my project I made a mini album with a ribbon basket weave cover.  I used one of my ALL TIME favorites mixed with other beautiful ribbons.  In this tutorial you can see exactly how I did it.

Here is my final project for the May Arts Design Team call.  I really tried to think out the box on this one and hopefully everyone likes my project.  I made a keepsake bowl out of ribbon.  Except for the handle on the top of course.  You can make so many other things besides a bowl to – really super easy to do.

There is something special about taking a well-loved pair of jeans and giving them another life. Denim pockets can be upcycled into many things, but my favorite idea  is making them into a purse. Don’t let the lack of a sewing machine, or the inability to sew, stand in the way of crafting something beautiful. In this tutorial, I will show you how to make a no-sew purse using May Arts ribbons and a fun tying technique, which can then be applied to many other  projects!

I was emailing the Ribbon Lady,  I wrote I wasn’t sure yet what my entry was going to be.  (I wasn’t worried because something will inspire me.)  As I sent my email, I looked up and saw a metal dress form I’ve had for 2 years and haven’t done anything with.  I’ve never had the inspiration come to me…until that very moment. Here it is, that plain dress form that has moved from shelf to shelf, dusty, and still had the price tag still on it…so sad.  But now, it is transformed.  That’s why I am calling this piece Cinderella.  (giggle) Hey wait!  Will it go back to being plain on July 29th when they announce the new Ribbonista’s???

“Back in the day” as my kids now say, when I was growing up, we had a welcome rock on the front step of our house.  It still sits in its original spot.  The rock is painted black with little ladybugs made from rocks with family members names below each.  Our family name is also painted on the rock with “Welcome”.  Using that rock as my inspiration, I created a different version with a ladybug in a flower garden – all created from May Arts ribbon. This would make a great housewarming gift or the perfect way to accent your very own entryway.

My project is an upcycled frame {approx 24″ x 36″} transformed with 4″ wired burlap into a faux pallet wall decor. If you search Pallet Art, loads of ideas and inspiration come up for repurposing this industrial tool. I covered a frame with stained muslin {stretched around like a canvas}. Inked/aged with Walnut Stain Distress ink, I adhered the 4″ May Arts wired burlap using Helmar fabric adhesive in strips to simulate wooden planks. Painted buttons with acrylic paint to use as faux nailheads. I stamped and hand cut letters to spell out an inspirational quote to transform my empty unused frame into a rustic and graphic wall decor in my studio.

Today, I will be leading you through a tutorial of my mini album titled:  “Do What You Love”.  Those that know me did not have any doubt that I would be making a mini album LOL.  Most of the time I start my albums with what theme I want and that leads to the paper I will be using; and then it leads to the colors I choose.

I wanted to create a decorative piece for my craft room and I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect chandelier for a few years now. I knew right away that I wanted to create one for my craft room using the May Arts Ribbons and Trims. I used a vintage metal hanging basket for my base and layered on the MA ribbons & trims along with a few baubles and I created what I think is a beautiful ribbon chandelier that I have already hung in my craft room. Not only is this a creative way to use the May Arts Ribbons & Trims but you can also create a decorative piece for your home or craft room.

I am primarily a card maker. I love cards and I love ribbon, lace, twine anything that adds that extras something to my projects. I would love love love to be a Prima Ribbonista for the above reason. I love trims of all kinds and let’s be honest, May Arts is the best!

I showed my incredibly crafty mom the pattern I was going to make for this dress and to my great surprise she said, “Do you know how to do those bows? I have no idea how to do that!” I remember when someone first showed me this method of bow making and I loved the simplicity of it. So I thought I would make a quick tutorial on how to make these. Enjoy!

Baby Dress with a Flat Ribbon Bow

Part 2:

I buy bows all the time for my daughter. I am obsessed with bows and finding the perfect bow for the outfit. I bought a bow-making system to make perfectly symmetrical, boutique bows and I am so glad I did! May Arts ribbon makes the most gorgeous bows and is so easy to work with. Here is the second bow I made with this system. I thought we could learn together.

I’ve put together a set of five tags as a home decor piece, not only utilizing a vast array of ribbon as embellishments, but also using the Silky Crush to “bind” together the tags making them a single piece! My video shows the tags in depth and also how to create the binding.

Since it is July, I decided to start my preparations for Christmas beforehand and made a card. I used 2 different in width Silky Crunch ribbons and made a soft framing for my tag on the chipboard. And the video features how you can arrange your ribbons on the card and create a beautiful folded bow.

Part 2:

I decided to show more projects, and created this Layout featuring one-side ribbon- bow technique. I used teal and turquoise colors , so I went further and made some texture on the background to coordinate it well with the Sheer/Ruffle edge ribbon. Also I decorated acrylic embellishments and added some white lace. It provides an airy look alongside with the flowers.

I like things that I can give as gifts or actually have function (a photo book or a cute storage box) because a little homemade decor goes a long way in my opinion.  So my favorite project was Sue's Christmas ornaments and framed pic.  The ornaments are adorable as small gifts or as a gift box tie on.  The framed pic again is a great gift of seasonal decor at home.  I love the pretty ribbons and colors used in this project.  I love the added stamped metal tags and especially like the texture/color combination of the ornament on the left with words and tan background.

Such a lot of talent, some amazing projects, but the one that really caught my eye was Susan Brown's.  What a great way to use that Burlap Ribbon!
