Make a Birthday Cake Frame
Hey ribbon lovers, so glad you stopped by today for a little inspiration! Today I wanted to share a birthday cake frame I created. In our family most of the birthdays are in summertime when holiday decorating is at it lowest. Why not pep up the vignette with a little extra birthday decorations! Or maybe a gift for that someone who has everything.
I wanted the photo frame to look like a tall cake with fancy icing. The faux suede with a ruffle edge in ¾” and 1 ½” work perfect to create this look. I hot glued the ribbon directly to the frame, alternating between the two different widths of ribbon.
To create the candles I cut a small dowel into 3 pieces. I then wrapped it in pink striped grosgrain, to make it look like a real candle. I finished the look with a glittered teardrop piece of paper. To attach the candles to the frame I drilled 3 small holes in the frame and twisted the dowels in.
I thought this sentiment was so funny… and I’m always looking for a reason to eat more cake. I gave ‘cake’ a little sparkle before inserting it into the frame.
I hope you loved my ‘birthday cake’!
