I love doing fun things when it’s time for Bunco or kids’ parties…nothing is spared decoration…not even the cupcake stand!

Halloween Cupcake Stand

All you need is a footed cake stand, a tall object for height and interest and of course ribbons for creating a skirt and for embellishing.

Let’s start with the skirt:  first, decide how long you would like for the ribbons to hang down on the sides; cut 3 strips of the same length.  Lay the ribbons out over the cake stand.  Once the lengths are even, glue all three together in the center.

I have not used a wired ribbon for the skirt before, but really like how it molds to the sides.  Next, I tied small bows from the orange grosgrain ribbon and attached it (along with a large black pom pom) to the ends of each ribbon.  Find a plate that is just a bit smaller than the cake stand and sit it on top of the ribbon skirt.

For the centerpiece I used an inexpensive wooden candelabra and paper straws.  I wanted to bring out the white in the cake stand and stitched ribbon, so I chose a white and black dot straw.  The straws also served as holders for the curly-q pipe cleaners!

Next, I began assembling layers of bows into one larger bow and then glued it to the top of the candelabra, along with a glittery jack ‘o lantern.

Now for the batty cupcakes!  I knotted the stitched grosgrain ribbon and cut the ends at an angle with pinking shears.  Two small white pearls were added to the center and then dotted with a black permanent marker for the eyes.  I attached each bat to a pixie stick and then inserted them into the cupcakes.
