Get Inky with Splash of Color & May Arts Ribbon!

soc_ma

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, May Arts Ribbon and Splash of Color have teamed up to bring you some very colorful inspiration!  Each month we will be combining our ribbon and their fabulous paints and inks on a series of projects to show you just how well they work together!

I hope you stopped on by the Splash of Color blog and posted a comment to win some Twinkling H20’s and ribbon of your own!  If not, head on over because there is still plenty of time!

For our first month, the ribbonistas were given Twinkling H20’s and May Arts Ribbon’s 100% cotton white eyelet trim to work with.  I have been of fan of these paints for a number of years now, so I have been so excited to see what they would create!   And they certainly did not disappoint!!!  Check it out!

Charlene Driggs:

It’s so much fun creating with May Arts Eyelet Ribbons and Twinkling H20’s Springtime Shimmering Watercolors.   Be sure to head on over to my blog to see the secret treat hidden in my flowers.  A perfect little birthday, office or get well gift for someone “sweet!

One of my favorite things about being craft savvy is creating one of a kind pieces, like this little ribbon fish, that fit into my home decor and make it unique. I used 4 different ribbons (eyelet, white leaves, black grosgrain stripes, and black web) to create my fish, and finished off his eyelet tail fin with a dry brush of Heather Grey Twinkling h20s.   Click here for the details!

With a heat wave going on in most of the USA, it’s almost hard to craft out of season for me…. but I was given some beautiful Autumn colored twinkling h20’s, so I thought I’d make the best of them! I added some of the eyelet trims at the bottom and top of my tag, I love the ruffle effect. Then I added some twinkling h20’s and blended the colors. I love the way it turned out! After creating this little tag, I’m ready for Autumn and cooler crisp temperatures for sure!

Need to give a welcome gift?  Why not wrap a home baked loaf of banana bread with embossed wax paper, doily and tie together with May Arts eyelet ribbon. I used the Splash of Color to add extra texture to the die cut.  Click here for the details!

Gini Williams Cagle:

I painted the ribbon to achieve a watercolor effect from blue to green to match my patterned paper. I hand stitched a gather to form the layers of the skirt for my chipboard dress form.  I added a little bit more glitz with a belt and bow made from the Metallic VelvetClick here for the details!

Jen Shears:

I’m so excited to share my Splash of Color project! I love the new May Arts eyelet, and painting it with twinkling waters was so fun- the little flecks of shimmer in person are lovely.  I used the 5/8” eyelet and the twinkling H2O’s in basic rainbow to create a beautiful eyelet rainbow!  I topped it with the 3/8” eyelet which is beautifully finished on both sides. Who wouldn’t love to receive this- and best of all- mail friendly!  🙂   Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you’ve been inspired!

My daughter and I had so much fun with the H2O’s painting the eyelet, the colors came out so nice and vivid on the cotton.  We decided to re-use these nice round light bulbs and turn them into hot air balloons.  Using a few zots adhere the eyelet to the glass and hang, they look really cute hanging in front of the window, but it was just to hard to get a picture.

Karen Baker:

The cotton eyelet offered by May Arts Ribbon is just too sweet for words! Did you know that it is easy to customize too? I used the fabulous Twinkling H2Os to add a splash of color to the white eyelet ribbon. The ombre effect look is so much fun for a card.  Click here for the details!

I love how easily the pretty May Arts eyelet trim holds the beautiful colors of the Twinkling H2O watercolors.  Here I combined several colors to create an ombre look with the eyelet.  Just add a thick line of paint to the top of the trim and then use water to bring down the color.  Easy and beautiful.

Mixed media is totally not my thing so when I tried the H2o’s I was very nervous, didn’t know what to do/create, and figured I wouldn’t like them. Guess what? They are great! Once I played around with them and tried a few things I learned they can be used in so many ways. I love that you can get a lot of the same effects from the H2o’s as from a mist without the mess and a little bit of glimmer.
