Day 2 – May Arts / Jenni Bowlin Blog Week!
I hope you are enjoying all the fun we’re having with the wonderful swap with jenni bowlin (JBS)- I know I am!!!
I’m here to show you how to put this banner together using JBS and May Arts supplies.
I’ll tell you what I use for chipboard most of the time:
Yep! Cereal boxes! I’ve always got them & they work great! So cut your chipboard to size, as well as your patterned paper that will cover them, and the strips for the medallions. (the size is up to you, I usually do about 4×6” for each panel)
I attached the patterned paper with modge podge. Next I cut my letters using my cricut (storybook cartridge at 2”).
Next I painted them with acrylic paint & while the paint was wet sprinkled them with Martha Stewart black onyx glitter. When it was dry I sprayed it with fixative to minimize the glitter falling off (and getting all over my husband!! Ha!).
I created ribbon medallions with RG76 by using a running stitch and gathering. (I used about 12”)
With the majority of my ‘parts’ done, I planned my layout.
I decided I wanted to use another pattern paper pleated across the top.
Now start putting it together! I sewed my YUMMY velvet ric rac (WR10) along each panel.
Out came the hot glue! I used it to attach the medallions to each panel, the letters to the medallions and the paper pleat to the back of each panel.
All that was left was to add some fun JBS embellishments and more gorgeous May Arts Ribbon!
I think this banner would look great year-round! It would make a great gift, although I don’t think I’ll be able to part with it!
I have loved Jenni Bowlin products as long as I can remember, so working on this project was a special treat!! Thank you JBS for this fun swap!
