Dyed Twill Necklace

Day 5 of May Arts / Tattered Angels Blog Week

Dyed Twill Necklace

I am excited to share this super fun project with you using May Arts Twill and Tattered Angels colorants!  These are two of my FAVORITE things, so I was super excited to combine them for this project!   I will be showing you how to create a super fun necklace!

Materials:

  • 3 yards (individually cut) May Arts 5/8” Twill in Natural (FN09).
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Butternut Squash
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze Glimmer Jolly Old Elf
  • Other Materials:  Jewelry chain, jump rings, and clasp; Copper Wire; Butterfly embellishment (or something similar)

Step 1:  Use magnets or tape to secure your three strand of twill to a work mat.

Step 2:  Braid the three strands together and tie ends.

Step 3:   Now comes the fun part!  Spray the Glimmer mist liberally toward the center and then just lightly as you move toward the ends giving the twill a gradient color look.

Step 4:  Wrap ends with wire and add short chains with clasp to create a closure in the back. Pinch the center of the necklace together and wrap with copper wire to form a decorative loop.

Step 5:  Paint the butterfly accent copper and then coat with the Glimmer Glaze to add a touch of glimmer and glitter.  Adhere to necklace with a strong glue.

And you are finished!  This is a nice and easy project and tons of fun!  I think it has a bit of an Anthro feel to it.  Kinda crazy and yet way cute all at the same time!  I hope you try it!!!

Truthfully, not my style, but I like seeing how it was done and now have a great idea for using a twisted twill border on one of my next scrap pages!!!

This would be fun to do the three strands different colors and then braid it together.
