DT Challenge Finalist – Mandie Wade

Scrapbooking With Ribbon

Congratulations to Mandie Wade of Mandie's Scrappin' for her Scrapbooking With Ribbon Tutorial:

Today I would like to share a few of the ways that I add some great texture to my layouts by simply adding some beautiful ribbon! Normally you might not think of using ribbon in scrapbooking but many ribbons lay pretty flat and really add some wonderful texture to your page. I have three layouts to share that I have added ribbon to. In fact, MOST of my layouts these days have ribbon somewhere on them. I just love the feel that the ribbon gives to a page.

On the first layout I have to share I used some gorgeous white grosgrain ric rac (#330-01), I love that this is a wide ric rac that isn't bulky. I paired it with some super cute papers from Jillibean Soup and some buttons and a small scrap of brown ribbon from my scrap jar. Maybe this is where I should admit that in my scrap room lives a dresser that is filled with ribbon. Yep, I said a dresser. Plus I have a tote bag full of loose ribbons AND a couple of jars on my desk that have the smaller pieces that I can't bear to toss.

Now when you look at my next two layouts you will see my absolute favorite ribbons of all time! The May Arts catalog describes them as "Chenille/ Center Dot" ribbon but I like to call it my "Teddy Bear" ribbon. Why? Because it is sooooo soft I seriously want to cuddle it! So I really love adding it to layouts! I was really excited when I saw all of the colors it is available in too! On my Love Bug layout, I added the pink and brown (WP17) to my layout. What great baby layout is complete with out something soft and cuddly? I just added a strip of green cardstock to give it a little bit more visual weight. I love the way it looks (and feels) on the layout with the photos of my adorable baby girl. The papers I used in this were all from Close to My Heart.

The final layout I have uses the amazing "Teddy Bear" ribbon in teal (WP34) and this gorgeous lace (390-58-09) and Fancy Pants papers. I wanted to use things that remind me of my Grandma (Greatie Nana to my girls), so I chose the lace because she loves beautiful things and the super soft Chenille/Center Dot ribbon because she's got a soft and sweet but colorful personality! I can't wait to share this layout with her because I know she will love it!

So I shared with you three super simple examples of how adding a bit of ribbon to your layouts can add so much beauty to your scrapbooks. I hope you will try this with your books too!
