Core’ dinations/Petaloo Victorian Christmas

Day 1 – May Arts /  Core'dinations / Petaloo Blog Week!

Welcome back to the May Arts blog!  I had the opportunity to pair our gorgeous May Arts ribbons with the wonderful Ebony and Ivory cardstock from Core’dinations and the “core’ dinating” Color Me Crazy flowers from Petaloo.  Yes, I did say “core’dinating”.  The Petaloo Color Me Crazy collection matches the Core’dinations cardstock colors perfectly!   The Ebony and Ivory pack is a collection of the Core Essentials, Whitewash and Black Magic colors.  A creative bargain for sure.

I decided to go with a Victorian Christmas theme using Core’dinations Whitewash Barn Siding and Antique Vanity colors and a selection of May Arts elegant velvet ribbons.   We like to keep a small tree with little gifts for visitors.  It’s so nice to surprise them with something beautiful to hang on their tree and a yummy treat as well.   You can make dozens of these little treats in no time.

I’ll show you how I made my flowers at the end of the post.

Core’dinations Whitewash Cardstock – Barn siding/Antique Vanity

Petaloo Color Me Crazy Scarlet/Snowflake White

May Arts 3/8 inch Black Metallic Velvet

May Arts 1 inch Black Velvet/Crochet

May Arts 1/8 inch Black Velvet

Core’dinations Sand It Gadget (I LOVE this tool!)

Martha Stewart eyelet lace border punch

Small hole paper punch

Sewing machine (small stocking, optional)

1/8 inch strong double sided tape

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist

Luminarte Hot Cinnamon H2O’s

Hot glue/glue gun

Peppermint sticks or chocolate candy

You can make this simple cone in any size.  I cut my Core’dinations Whitewash into a 6” x 6” square.  Punch 3 edges, sand as desired to reveal the color and roll into a cone.  Secure the punched edge with strong double sided tape.  Wrap with May Arts Metallic Velvet ribbon.    Paint the flower with Luminarte Hot Cinnamon H20’s.  Attach to top of cone.  Attach a loop of the Metallic Velvet with strong double sided tape, fill with candy and hang.

I hand drew 2 sizes of simple stockings on scrap cardstock then traced them onto the back of the Core’dinations Whitewash Antique Vanity cardstock.  Cut out and punch holes.  Thread with May Arts 1/8 inch Black Velvet leaving long tails to tie a loop for hanging.  Wrap and secure a band of May Arts 1 inch Black Velvet Crochet ribbon at the top of the stocking.  Embellish with Color Me Crazy flower that has been sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Fill with candy.

Here’s how I made the flat flowers dimensional.  Layer two Petaloo flowers.  Place a dab of hot glue to secure the layers.

Pinch the base of the flowers.  Add another dab of hot glue in the center.  Hold for just a second until the glue cools.  If you’re going to paint your flowers with H20’s, do that now.  If using Glimmer Mist, spray after the next step.

Hot glue flower to project.

That’s it…an inexpensive way to welcome friends and neighbors into your holiday home.
