“After the holiday decorations are safely tucked away, I am always looking for ways to capture the magic that goes with them.  I find adding little embellishments with ribbon helps give life to my weary winter home.  Photos of a valance I created in my powder room using May Arts KC ribbon to cover the top of the blinds & also a soft bow & a paper rose with sheer ribbon tucked in a painted heart bird basket help bridge the gap between winter & spring. I also embellished inexpensive towels with a beautiful floral jacquard ribbon & coordinating fringe for a fresh look.  My last photos are of a simple heart twig wreath that I added one of my papier mache heART creations to embellished with lace & double-face satin ribbon.  A tea-stained heart doily & a crocheted heart by my mother-in-law adds a little nostalgia to my unique Valentine wreath.”

I have been collecting jars for this project for awhile now. I look for cute shaped clear jars, and have even bought a few items in the grocery store just because I wanted the jar! The jars are small, like jam jars, but many I have found have a cute curved shape, not just plain straight up and down. Here is what I plan to make with them….
Each jar will become part of a snowman family. You can use a styrofoam ball for the snowman head and the jar becomes the body.
Partially fill the jar with artificial snow, buttons, snips of pretty ribbons, glitter, etc. Decorate the styrofoam ball with the face, using small black brads or buttons for eyes and mouth, and an orange felt nose. Glue head onto jar rim. Now decorate the neck with a beautiful ribbon scarf. The wired ribbons would be pretty here and would hold a nice shape too. Add any other embellishments here also, maybe a piece of snowflake ribbon.
While this isn’t a spring-themed project, it is a way of renewing the jars, so I thought I would submit the idea to share with others. I’m really looking forward to working on these jars and making them into whimsical snowmen that I can use as gifts or enjoy decorating with them myself.
My husband’s idea for using ribbon to clean and freshen our home is to put a large yellow ribbon with the word “CAUTION” on it, across the door into my stamproom ….hahaha

I have a very large grapevine wreath on my front door and every season/holiday I change the flowers and ribbon to coordinate with. The wreath is several years old but always looks refreshed when I change it to make it look so much more inviting.
