Christmas Ornament & Card

Day 5 of May Arts / Our Craft Lounge Blog Week!

Christmas Ornament & Card

Hi all, Vera’s here from Ling’s Design Studio. I know it’s only September, but Christmas is not that far away. Before we know it, it’ll be here. So, I am thinking right now would be a good time to start thinking about Christmas project or at least start gathering ideas for it.

As you know, this week May Arts is teaming up with Our Craft Lounge and I get to work with a cute set from Our Craft lounge called “Under The Mistletoad”.  And, I decided to make a Christmas ornament and a card.

Let’s start with the Christmas ornament.

For the Christmas ornament materials needed:

  • Cardstock
  • Circle cutter
  • Twine

This ornament is about 3.5” x 3.5”. You can make it bigger or smaller depending on what size you like. First, from a thick cardstock I cut a big circle, then without removing my circle cutter, I adjust the blade position and cut a smaller circle to create the opening. I use about ½ yard of the twill ribbon to cover the circle.

For this project, I used Love My Tapes permanent adhesive. Simply cover the cardstock with the adhesive, and then I just wrapped the ribbon around it.

Next, I worked on the image. Stamp, color, and fussy cut the frog on the candy cane image. Then I stamp the present image a couple times, color, and fussy cut them. Arrange all the images the way you like them on the ribbon circle and adhere. I position the image on the part where the ribbon ends to cover it up. Add twine to the back side and ta…da… you’re done. 🙂

Of course, I couldn’t play with stamp without making any card. Beside this froggy is so cute and fun to play with. For my card, I stick to CAS style to let the mistletoe & the frog shine.

Materials:

  • 3/8” green double faced satin ribbon HA66

For this card, I make a half inch slit on the middle of the card fold and about 1/3 from the top of the card. Slip the ribbon through this opening and adhere both end of the ribbon on the inside of the card, keeping the front looking neat. Tie a bow and add to card. Stamp & color the frog image and the sentiment.  Stamp the mistletoe, color, and fussy cut it and adhere it right under the bow using pop-dots.

There you go, some fun & easy Christmas projects. Hope today’s project help inspire you and thank you so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day everyone!
