Christmas Card Keepsake Box

Day 3 – May Arts / Jenni Bowlin Blog Week!

Christmas Card Keepsake Box

I can’t tell you how much I love being a part of the May Arts Design Team and having the opportunity to share my creative endeavors with you.

One of the perks of being a member of the design team is that we get to work with some of the best products on the market.  This week, I am excited to be working with some wonderful products from Jenni Bowlin, and of course May Arts ribbon.

Believe it or not, I’ve started decorating my house, and am in urgent need of a Christmas Card Keepsake Box!

Why a Christmas Card Keepsake Box you ask?  Well, I’m one of those people that loves to keep the Christmas cards I get each year, but struggles with where and how to store them during and after the season.

This decorative keepsake box will not only enhance my holiday décor, but it will give me a place to store my treasured Christmas cards.

Follow along, and I’ll show you how to make this unique holiday box.

You’ll need the following supplies:

  • Oval Paper Mache Box  (I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby for $3.00)

Instructions:

The first step in creating this unique display and storage box was to cut my Jenni Bowlin papers into assorted size squares and rectangles.  The papers are going to be placed in an overlapping, collage pattern around the outside of my box and covering the lid.

Next, I glued the papers to the outside of the box. I made sure to stagger my paper patterns so the box had a more eclectic feel to it.

Your Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro works like a gem to attach the papers to your box.

With all my papers in place, I glued ribbons to the box, covering up the paper seams and placing ribbon around the edges of the box.

Next, I added my 3-dimensional embellishments – Jenni Bowlin journaling card and banner pieces.

I covered the banner pieces in decorative paper and added the circle initials to spell out CHRISTMAS.

As a final decorative element for the outside of my box, I created a ribbon button to go on the front of the box and a beautiful bow for the back side of the box.

To create my ribbon button, I cut a circle out of cardstock to serve as the base of the button.  I put Glue Arts Ribbon Adhesive around the outer edge of the circle and gathered my ribbon into pleats around the edge.  I placed another cardstock circle in the center of the button and layered an American Crafts felt flower on top, to finish it off.

To complete my keepsake box, I covered the lid with decorative paper, added ribbon around the edge and glued on a red felt flower to give it a festive touch.

By combining beautiful May Arts ribbons and Jenni Bowlin products, I now have a beautiful keepsake box to display and store my Christmas cards.

Holiday Greetings to You All!
