Card – Merry Christmas
Ho! Ho! Ho! It's that time of year again… well, if you like to make cards to send to your friends and family, you've probably already been thinking (or creating) your Holiday Cards. This card was actually inspired by the ribbon I chose. I opened my box of ribbon to try to figure out a fun project and the Dark Green Velvet Ric Rac (WR15) was laying on top of the gorgeous Red Rosette ribbon (353-25) and I had an "ah-ha" moment. I knew that last year's Merry Christmas collection by Echo Park Paper would go perfectly with the colors! I cleared all the Halloween goodies off my desk and tore through my stash to find my Christmas goodies. It took me a while to come up with the "perfect" combination of the papers, I didn't want to overwhelm the beautiful ribbon, but I think I chose right! The Santa image was cut from one of the sheets of paper. It was only brown and cream so I used my Copic markers to add a little color to his face, eyes and hat. Then I matted it on brown cardstock. The base I chose was an Ivory 5" x 6.5" prefolded card card, so I cut another piece of brown card stock slightly smaller than the front so I could build my layers. Because the Rosette Ribbon is sheer, and I really only wanted about a 1" strip, I used a piece of Ivory cardstock to mount my ribbon on. I used Scor Tape on the back of the cardstock piece and wrapped my edges all around it. then I matted the whole piece on brown cardstock to give it more definition. Finally I layered my patterned paper pieces and added a little bit of the Ric Rac. Then I adhered my Rosette strip with more Scor Tape and popped up my Santa with a bit of foam adhesive. Now I've got one card down, and about 60 more to make….
