Caged Wings Gypsy Doll
Hi! This is Jingle and I am super excited to share another one of my doll tutorials with you! Today I will be showing you my Caged Wings Gypsy doll. She is constructed on a birdcage base with an air dry clay and adorned with paint and ribbon! Let’s get started!
- May Arts Ribbon:
- AW35 – Solid/Crush Wired 2” grey
- SK36 – Silk ¼” Orange
- SK25 – Silk ¼” Cranberry
- UK10 – Silky/Crush 1.5” black
- Air Dry Clay
- Metal Bird Cage
- Paint, colored pencils
- Rhinestones (black)
- Butterfly accent
Using the metal bird cage as a base sculpt the doll torso and head (use a styrafoam ball on a stick as a support). Add a ring of clay around the waist just above the birdcage. Add facial features. Allow to dry for 24 hours. Paint with a skin tone paint.
Add color to facial features with paint and colored pencils. Paint torso and arms grey. Attach arms with pins to torso.
Wrap orange silk around waistband. Using the sculpted ring around the waste, use a sculpting tool to press the grey wired ribbon pieces into the waist band to form the skirt. Roll the ends to give them a finished look. Leave an opening in the front of the skirt so you can see in the cage.
Wrap the black silky crush ribbon around her head to form a headwrap and tie off with orange silk ribbon. Adhere the cranberry silk ribbon around the neckline.
Insert Butterfly into birdcage.
Add her rhinestone earrings and neckline accent and she is finished! A wonderfully spirited Caged Wing Gypsy doll!
