Day 2 of May Arts / Petaloo Blog Week!
Hello and welcome to May Arts and Petaloo week. Have you seen all of the yummy flowers and embellishments that Petaloo makes? They are to drool over for sure! I use these flowers all the time in my card making and Scrapbooking, but what else can you do with them? SO MUCH! I created a couple of fun hair clips and a summery necklace using these colorful flowers. Here are the steps I took to create these how super simple projects.
First up here is the necklace I made:
I knotted three strands of May Arts ribbon 382-34-46. This is a nice thick ribbon , but even on this necklace it’s still very lightweight to wear during the summer. For my flower centers I used some great vintage buttons I had. First I created the flower portion using a glue gun, ribbon and the flowers. I layered the flowers and stitched them onto my ribbon. I then used my hot glue gun to attached the three strands of knotted ribbon. My buttons are attached with the glue gun as well. You could very easily sew those on as well, but I was going for a quick project. Lastly I added a chain, ribbon clasps, and a lobster closure to the necklace. Here are a couple detail shots of the finished necklace.
Project number two was also just as simple. Here is what you’ll need to make these simple clips:
- Petaloo flowers
- Petaloo embellishments
- Clip from local craft store
- Hot Glue gun
Here is a photo tutorial for you:
All you have to do is layer the flowers using your glue gun and then add your butterfly or dragonfly from the embellishment pack. Lastly you can add you clip. There are a few different kinds of clips to choose from at your local craft store. Mine were found at JoAnn’s.
It is as easy as it sounds and looks. I hope you give this a try and stretch your crafting supplies for other uses. Have fun and thanks for stopping by and checking out the blog today. Have a crafty day!
