Alyona V. Savinova

For round 2 I decided to make two tutorials. The first is a photo tutorial in clean and simple style. It is about how to make a small lovely card using beautiful May Arts satin ribbons only.

Clean & Simple Card Using Ribbon

Photo tutorial is in my blog.

Second is a video tutorial about how to decorate amazing shadow box with silk ribbons garland. This alter scrap project was made in white vintage style. Video tutorial is more difficult but more inspiring. I used six types of ribbons in different interesting techniques such as creating vintage flower from your awesome silk ribbon.

I have designed a shabby chic wedding gown and recorded the entire process of its making from scratch for the video tutorial. I have made the dress base for my wedding gown using the beautiful pearl lace trim and the burlap with lace. Then I started making 5 different types of flowers using the variety of laces from May Arts Ribbons Collection and which added beautiful interest in my shabby gown.

The Banner by the Sea was inspired by our vacation in Florida and the beautiful colors we see.  The ribbons mirrored the colors beautifully!!  This project involves stenciling, creating ribbon streamers with embellishments and a ribbon bow banner with a ribbon manipulation technique.  This project is an inspiration piece as one could change the focus from the Sea to a special holiday or themed event.

My project is a vintage-inspired trunk designed to hold towels and other supplies in a guest bathroom.  The May Arts ribbons transform this functional item into a beautiful decoration that anyone would be proud to display in their home.

For my video tutorial, I choose to use 3 May Arts Ribbons. I used the White Sheer Ruffled Edge Ribbon (350-58) for the daisy flower, and then the Mini pom pom Ribbon in Yellow( 419-27) for the center. For the leaves I chose the beautiful 1.5″ Satin Pleats Ribbon in Sage (379-15-66). All the flowers, big bow, and bee for the floral arrangement are handmade.

My card is inspired on a beautiful and modern color combination, seen usually on weddings and shabby chic/modern celebrations. I picked the lovely colors and created a clean and layered moden card with die cuts and handmade embellishments using ribbon, thread and tulle.

Who wouldn’t love to create this whimsical centerpiece for that special occasion?  Just think, with the right ribbon from May Arts you could make beautiful baby shower displays, wedding reception table toppers or just one for your everyday home decor in coordinating colors.  The sky is the limit, and when you see how easy it is to create one of these ribbon topiaries you’ll be making them for yourself and friends left and right.

I created summer mini album with a lots of our different memories – from our holiday mini crazy trips to pages with our sweets pics like yummy tart or cupcakes.  I’ve got many wonderful ideas during creating this project and having fun! I used kraft paper to create base of my project, add some papers, stickers and diecuts with May Arts ribbons which I painted using special and my fav paints called twinkling h20 with a little bit water!  On my cover I used beautiful light pink crochet ribbon with silks ribbons. In my imagination I had idea to create unique color combo with them and using Prima beautiful flower.

A Summer/ beach themed 12×12 layout featuring the Making Waves collection from Fancy Pants, ribbons and cord from May Arts Ribbon and dies from Spellbinders. I created a textured background for this layout by adding 3 small spirals of navy, light blue and white cord and machine stitched them into place before adding all other layers and photos. The yellow chevron ribbon was also machine stitched to the left side of the base paper. The flags were created with 2 inch pieces of various ribbons and stitched on a narrow strip of navy paper. Finish off layout by adding small splats of Glimmer Glaze ( teal and black) and add embellishments.

I have been wanting to try string art for a while and round 2 of the May Arts design team call was the perfect project to bring it all together.  I used May Arts Burlap String in red and pink and 1-1/4″ silk in violet.  Wish me luck!!

The “Purple Passion Bouquet” is the name of this little beauty. I used a combination of Ribbon Work and Ribbon Embroidery to create this bouquet. What’s the difference you ask? Ribbon Work flowers and leaves are fashioned and hand stitched prior to arranging and stitching them onto your fabric. Ribbon Embroidery is stitched right onto the fabric. I choose Dupioni Silk as my base fabric, I love the look and it works well with the delicate silk ribbons. I didn’t have a pattern, just a vision in my head of what I wanted to create. I made a bunch of different flowers and leaves to start. If I don’t use them all for this project, that’s ok, I will use them at some point!

I’m so happy to be a finalist for the May Arts Ribbon Design Team! For my final project, I’ve created a pair of “Floating Lotus Flower Ribbon Lights”.  I’ll show you how to create the float, the lily pad, and the central bud and lotus, both of which are made from four different May Arts Ribbons.  I’ve also included a short video showing you how to roll or quill the lotus bud that fits over the tea light.  My project is designed in such a way, that if you need to replace the tea light, you can, without having to dispose of the entire creation.  Thanks for sharing this experience with me and thanks, Bethney, for this wonderful opportunity.

Alyona V. Savinova- loved the different techniques used on the two projects.

Kyriakos for the wonderfully creative use of the ribbons to make that darling scene.

Sherry Williams for the beautiful ribbon embroidery which I think is awesome!

I based my choices on the creative ways in which the ribbon was used and also on what I would have enjoyed to have in my home to enjoy. All of the projects were wonderfully done. I am glad I don’t have to be the one to really pick the winners.

Hello! You have fabulous designers to choose from! All the projects are stunning! I have to give you two though and here is my reason.

I saw Gracie Chávez’s card on FB and it was so beautiful that it halted my scrolling! I kept looking at the beautiful ribbon (and I had no idea she made it for your DT call.) Her card is simply stunning. Beautiful staging.

My second choice is Alyona V. Savinova. Gorgeous projects!!! I didn’t realize at first that she made BOTH projects and I was trying to decide which designer I liked best. I was having a hard time with it until I realized ONE designer did both! Beautiful staging.

    So that’s my 2 cents! 🙂

These are fantastic!!! My top pick is Marielle. I love that she does good old fashioned paper crafting – scrapbooking and card making are what I come to the May Arts blog to see and her stuff is amazingly inspiring! So well made and absolutely beautiful every single time. After that, I would go with Terri for pure ingenuity and fabulous project photography. What a fun idea!

Ah, Rebecca, you are a sweetheart….and by the way, I think I saw your name pop up over at Graphic 45 this week. Did you see? If I’m not mistaken, you won something on their blog. Yay!

Good golly, amazing projects everyone! Gosh, I’m blown away by everyone. If I had to pick (other than my own, lol) it would be that amazing wedding dress, although I could truly find a use for every one of those creations in my house. Paper crafts are near and dear to my heart and I really love Erin’s layouts as well and Gracie’s card. But then there’s the clock, and the nautical album…..and ….oh who am I kidding. I love them all!

Erin’s kleenex box gave me some ideas for embellishing a clear plastic box that I have. I’ve been planning on doing something with it but just haven’t gotten to it, Thanks for the ideas.
