For this project I took some plain jute totes and turned
them into bags to brag about! They are quick, easy and fun to make. I have shown you four samples complete with
instructions. **Remember if you can’t find jute totes just about any plain tote
bag will work. ** These make great gifts-or keep one to tote around your
current craft project! (I use one to hold my knitting.)

Natural Bag With Ribbon And Red Buttons

.
Materials:
- ribbons-red velvet ric rac (wr14) and antique gold velvet
corduroy (357-34-32) brown/light brown/ cream solid plaid (xr32)
- jute bag with wooden handles
- vintage red buttons
- needle and thread
- fabri-tac glue
Instructions:
- Glue
ribbons on the base of bag w/ fabri-tac glue. (both sides of the bag)
- Sew
large button on w/ ribbon. Sew rest
with thread. (both sides of the bag)
- Tightly
wind ribbon (xr32) around top of wooden handles of bag. Seal with glue. Let the bag dry overnight and then it is
ready to use!

Pink Button Purse

Materials:
- ribbon – xe17
- pink jute bag with wooden handles
- pink, rose and coral buttons
- needle and thread
- fabri-tac glue
Instructions:
- Remove
wooden handles. Wrap ribbon tightly
around handles gluing the wood as you wrap. ( let dry.)
- Sew
buttons all around the top edge of the bag.
- Replace
wooden handles and enjoy!

Brown Ribbon Handled Button Bag

Materials:
- ribbons: brown/light brown/ cream solid plaid (xr32) brown
solid satin center band (xy33)
- brown jute bag with handles removed (save for another
project)
- brown yarn
- brown buttons
- sewing machine
Instructions:
- Draw a
looping line all over front of bag.
- Embroider
over pattern with yarn.
- Add
buttons in clumps on the front of the bag.
- Layer
ribbons right sides facing out, and sew along both long edges.
- Thread
the ribbon through top of bag and machine stitch short edges of the ribbon
together to make a large handle.
Repeat for other side.

Citron Bag

.
Materials:
- ribbons: olive/sage chenille dots (wpp16) burgundy satin
center band (337-25) olive solid satin center band(xy08)
- jute bag handles removed
- yarn
- pink buttons
- fabri-tac glue
Instructions:
- Draw a
looping line all over front of bag.
- Embroider
over pattern with yarn.
- Add
buttons in clumps on the front of the bag.
- Put
ribbon through front loops (where handles were) and tie in front. (glue ribbon in place)
- Layer
ribbons right sides facing out, glue together w/ fabritac.
- Glue
one short edge of the ribbon to the inside front right side of the bag.
- Glue
other short edge of the ribbon to the inside of the back left side of the
bag.
- Let dry overnight!

I’m a bag horder and sometimes it’s easy to hang them on a hook in the closet and forget about them. I’ll have to dig one out of my closet and play with it today! Thanks for the inspiration!
