Hello, ribbon lovers, it’s Sandy with some tasty summer candy today! Ribbon candy that is – this is among my favorite things to do with this May Arts striped twill – I own a spool of every color, so it’s my go-to ribbon. I love how flat it lays on a card, since that makes mailing a lot easier. Hope you enjoy the tutorial!
Also, if you want to know how I did any element in this book, leave a comment about that and I’ll try to include it in a tutorial over the next few months for you if a text response doesn’t cover it.

I love getting color inspiration from clothing catalogs. Some designer spent a lot of time and thought into those photo shoots, so I get the best ideas from them. :)

I so love that twill ribbon and your "candy" is such a great way to use it. One question for you–does the tape runner hold the ribbon securely enough for possible "rough" handling or would a touch of ScoreTape hold better?
As for color inspiration, gosh it comes from everywhere–blogs, Pinterest, catalogs, the mall, the garden, sometimes from random bits left over on my desk after a crazy crafting session!
A little ScorTape would likely hold it better; but the ribbon does lay flat enough that the tape runner gives it just a touch to tack it in place.
Such a vibrantly colored card. Very nice, as all your cards are. I remember you doing the ribbon candy technique on your show and loved the effect. The May Arts chevron ribbon is perfect for it.
Inspiration for color comes from so many places — blogs and bloggers, DSP, clothes I walk by in the store, what I see on my walks, magazines, fabric swatches, ink pad or embossing powder displays, spray paint racks, artwork, and just anything that has any color that catches my eye. I don't always do something with them, but my mind is always working.

To answer your question, as a new card maker I get my color inspiration from talented card makers like you. I'm sure once I'm more confident in my cardmaking I'll start finding inspiration from my huge stacks of designer quilting fabrics.
Another awesome card Sandy….you always amaze me! I get color inspiration from samples at craft stores or the colors in patterned cardstock.

Making ribbon candy is a go to technique for me, too. I'm not good at making bows so knots are another ribbon treatment I like to do.

Sometimes my color inspiration comes from beautiful cards I see on Web sites by others. Other times from the supplies in my stash.

I usually think of the recipient for my cards when I'm looking for color inspiration. If I know their favorite color I'll start there, if it's a guy I'll pick something guy friendly, etc. Thanks so much for sharing and enlightening!!
Hi again, Sandy, for the 2nd time this week. I just finished watching the live OWH show. BTW, you forgot to add the link in the "doobly-do," but I'd been here so knew where to come.
I listed all sorts of places I get inspiration in my comment yesterday, but forgot to add that some of it actually comes from Stump Sandy!!! The segment kicks my mind into another gear and I see combos of colors and papers that I'd never consider. If I'm making a card for a specific person, I try to make a card in colors and patterns I know they like (e.g., NO orange for one, ALWAYS stripes for another, NO pink for one, POLKA dots for another).
I get my color inspiration usually from my materials like inks and paper.
This is really a fun card. I had always wondered how this was done. I'm fairly new to card making! Thank you for sharing this!!
Great video and fun card, Sandy! Love your ribbon candy treatment, always looks so nice. Fun summer colors…I get color inspiration from very thing, including from my paper collection. Although I have to confess that when I color an image I do that first and then hunt up things to go with it! Probably explains my "healthy" ribbon collection!!

THIS CARD IS SO CUTE. I LOVE THAT LITTLE STAMPER AND HOW YOU USED IT TO CREATE A BACKGROUND TO MATCH YOUR IMAGE. THE CANDY RIBBON IS JUST TOO CUTE, WILL HAVE TO GIVE THAT A TRY. Such a bright & cheery card! My color inspirations come from a myriad of places, sometimes depending on who the card recipient will be. I like to get inspiration from blogs, magazines & sometimes from one of my paterened papers from my enormous hoard … uh I mean stash.
