Hello, ribbon lovers, it’s Sandy with some tasty summer candy today! Ribbon candy that is – this is among my favorite things to do with this May Arts striped twill – I own a spool of every color, so it’s my go-to ribbon. I love how flat it lays on a card, since that makes mailing a lot easier. Hope you enjoy the tutorial!
Also, if you want to know how I did any element in this book, leave a comment about that and I’ll try to include it in a tutorial over the next few months for you if a text response doesn’t cover it.
So now for your comment question: where do YOU get your color inspiration?

Beautiful card, love the way you do your ribbons. The striped twill is wonderful ribbon. I have a little of a couple colors, but I sure would love to have more. Thanks
Very cute and simple card. I like the stamper holder! Will have to check into that!
What a bright and happy card. I love the self inking stamp and what you did with it. Very nice! Thanks!
What a happy card!! I really like that stamper, too.
Cute card!
Love how you used the stamps! The pearl accents look great!
Cute!
Love that striped twill! So many pretty colors!
I get my color ideas everywhere… sometimes I see a combination in a magazine, on blogs I visit, a piece of clothing.

Another GREAT card, Sandy. I really have to get some of this yummy Twill ribbon now. I love your card. You make it look so simple, but it's still so elegant and lovely.
I love getting color inspiration from clothing catalogs. Some designer spent a lot of time and thought into those photo shoots, so I get the best ideas from them. :)
Such a cute card and I looove the ribbon candy – you made it on a card I was lucky enough to receive and I thought it was much more difficult – thanks for sharing the tutorial – now I can try it too !! =0)
Oh wow! I love how you made your own patterned paper using the stamp! Great idea!
This is fantastic I must remember to try that with my ribbons
Great card. I love how you made your own patterned paper!
I love it! It really does look like ribbon candy!
The pearls are the perfect touch.
Love your card and how you did the ribbon. I never think to do that with the ribbon. Thanks for sharing.
Nice card Sandy, I'm going to have to try 'ribbon candy'.
The colors remind me of a watermelon!
I so love that twill ribbon and your "candy" is such a great way to use it. One question for you–does the tape runner hold the ribbon securely enough for possible "rough" handling or would a touch of ScoreTape hold better?
As for color inspiration, gosh it comes from everywhere–blogs, Pinterest, catalogs, the mall, the garden, sometimes from random bits left over on my desk after a crazy crafting session!
A little ScorTape would likely hold it better; but the ribbon does lay flat enough that the tape runner gives it just a touch to tack it in place.
Such a vibrantly colored card. Very nice, as all your cards are. I remember you doing the ribbon candy technique on your show and loved the effect. The May Arts chevron ribbon is perfect for it.
Inspiration for color comes from so many places — blogs and bloggers, DSP, clothes I walk by in the store, what I see on my walks, magazines, fabric swatches, ink pad or embossing powder displays, spray paint racks, artwork, and just anything that has any color that catches my eye. I don't always do something with them, but my mind is always working.
Great Fun Card!
Love how you made your own patterned paper to complement the custom embellishment.and of course the ribbon adds the finishing touch.
I get my color inspiration from the seasons.
Love the card, thank you for sharing. I get my color inspirations from taking walks.
I've been admiring that twill ribbon for a long time!! It would have to be one of my choices if I were to win. Thanks for the chance!!
How cute that you added the centers to the flowers! Nice.
Hi Sandy, as I said on your blog, my color inspiration comes from talented people like yourself. I happen to be color challenged and depend on surfing the net for idea and inspiration. Your card today was a good example for what helps me in my crafting! Thanks for the tip on using the wonderful May Arts Twill ribbon.
love your card. thank you for sharing.
Love how you use the ribbon! It really does look like ribbon candy! I'll have to check out that stamper. What a neat idea!
To answer your question, as a new card maker I get my color inspiration from talented card makers like you. I'm sure once I'm more confident in my cardmaking I'll start finding inspiration from my huge stacks of designer quilting fabrics.
Another awesome card Sandy….you always amaze me! I get color inspiration from samples at craft stores or the colors in patterned cardstock.
Cute! And, love that chevron ribbon! Great inspiration and tutorial.
Making ribbon candy is a go to technique for me, too. I'm not good at making bows so knots are another ribbon treatment I like to do.

Great card and love how you looped the ribbon.
I love this twill ribbon and awesome card.
I get colour inspiration from the many colour challenge blogs and from Pinterest!
Very cute–I like your ribbon candy and the pearl pen accents. I get my color inspiration from store displays.
Sometimes my color inspiration comes from beautiful cards I see on Web sites by others. Other times from the supplies in my stash.
Wow! I had no idea that the PSA stamper existed! What a great idea (and it's not rubber so I'm not allergic!)
I usually think of the recipient for my cards when I'm looking for color inspiration. If I know their favorite color I'll start there, if it's a guy I'll pick something guy friendly, etc. Thanks so much for sharing and enlightening!!
Hi again, Sandy, for the 2nd time this week. I just finished watching the live OWH show. BTW, you forgot to add the link in the "doobly-do," but I'd been here so knew where to come.
I listed all sorts of places I get inspiration in my comment yesterday, but forgot to add that some of it actually comes from Stump Sandy!!! The segment kicks my mind into another gear and I see combos of colors and papers that I'd never consider. If I'm making a card for a specific person, I try to make a card in colors and patterns I know they like (e.g., NO orange for one, ALWAYS stripes for another, NO pink for one, POLKA dots for another).
I get my color inspiration usually from my materials like inks and paper.
This is really a fun card. I had always wondered how this was done. I'm fairly new to card making! Thank you for sharing this!!
Great video and fun card, Sandy! Love your ribbon candy treatment, always looks so nice. Fun summer colors…I get color inspiration from very thing, including from my paper collection. Although I have to confess that when I color an image I do that first and then hunt up things to go with it! Probably explains my "healthy" ribbon collection!!

WOW – thanks for the tutorial…..I was stapeling my ribbon, but I like the idea of taping better! Color inspiration usually comes to me from other blogs.
THIS CARD IS SO CUTE. I LOVE THAT LITTLE STAMPER AND HOW YOU USED IT TO CREATE A BACKGROUND TO MATCH YOUR IMAGE. THE CANDY RIBBON IS JUST TOO CUTE, WILL HAVE TO GIVE THAT A TRY. I HADN'T USED CLOTHING AS AN INSPIRATION AND MAY NEED TO USE THAT IN THE FUTURE. I USUALLY USE NATURE FOR COLOR INSPIRATION. THANKS FOR SHARING THESE GREAT IDEAS!
Such a bright & cheery card! My color inspirations come from a myriad of places, sometimes depending on who the card recipient will be. I like to get inspiration from blogs, magazines & sometimes from one of my paterened papers from my enormous hoard … uh I mean stash.
What a great tutorial for the ribbon candy….will have to try it! TFS
Seems the time of year or approaching holiday are a start to choosing the colors for a card and having the right paper to work with..
Cute card & neat tool to try. I find my color inspiration from seeing color combos on dp or from what other card-makers have made.
