It seems like in this day in age the perfect gift is a gift card-they are easy to find and available in any price range. I’ve been on the hunt to find ways to dress up this perfect gift and stumbled on a years and years old project-a ribbon slider card! Today I’ll show you my take using May Arts Ribbon and a cute little set called Joy in Little Things by Our Craft Lounge that is great for a birthday gift, wedding shower, etc. for the guy! I couldn’t stop there, I’ll also show you how to turn the page and create a similar ribbon slider card for the girls!
For the guys, I’ve gathered May Art’s ½ inch Woven Burlap Ribbon in green and yellow, some kraft paper, colorful patterned paper scraps, a 1/4 inch hole punch, adhesive and thread.
I first stamped a mushroom from Our Craft Lounge’s Joy in Little Things stamp set onto yellow and orange paper twice. After fussy cutting the image, I assembled it (and added a few extra details!) and adhered it onto a kraft panel and stamped the fun sentiment. Then, with removable adhesive, I attached a length of the green woven burlap ribbon and stitched it to the panel.
For the base, I trimmed a piece of kraft cardstock to 5×8.5 inches, and scored at approximately 2 and 5.5 inches. After completing the tri-fold I punched a circle through all layers and adhered the flaps together. I also trimmed down another piece of cardstock that fit inside the base, to hold the gift card. This piece was ~4.75 x 5 inches.
To make the slider portion of the card, I measured the yellow woven burlap ribbon to about 14 inches, or the length of the inside piece plus additional for the pulled tab portion. I ran the ribbon from the outside in through one punched circle to the inside out on the other circle. Then I stitched the ribbon to the inside piece to secure.
I adhered the mushroom panel to the card base to complete the look and tucked a gift card onto the inside panel with removable adhesive.
The recipient pulls the burlap ribbon tabs to reveal the gift card. You can write a message on the front or back of the inside panel for personalization too!
For the more feminine, or cute, route, simply change up your colors and ribbon!
For this baby slider card, I used Our Craft Lounge’s Joy in the Little Things stamp set, May Arts 1.5 inch Crochet/Velvet Center Ribbon in Green, (for a different look, I removed the velvet from the lace carefully by snipping the stitching holding the two together) 3/8 inch Velvet Ribbon in Pink, Natural Burlap String and markers.
I took advantage of some patterned paper to create the inside slider panel. This time instead of stitching to affix the ribbon to the inside piece, I tightly tied the velvet trim with burlap string to form the pull tab.
I love that May Arts offers such a wide variety of ribbon that you are able to create both masculine and feminine projects with ease!
