Welcome back to the May Arts blog!  I’m back again with another ribbon scrap tutorial.  This project is one I use over and over again because it has so many uses.  It’s called a Ribbon Blossom and once you master the basic technique, you can adjust the quantities of ribbon for any project big or small.   Just make sure to use even numbers.  Ribbons from 1/8” to ½” work best but don’t be afraid to experiment! 

Ok, let’s get started!  I’ll be making a blossom similar to the one on the pink box.   This makes a blossom that’s approximately 3 inches wide.  You can trim the ribbons down to any size you desire but this is the best size for ease of tying.

Here’s your suppy list:

• May Arts Ribbon Scraps (20 – 5” lengths and  1 – 7-10” length)

• Ruler

• Scissors

Instructions:

Stack the ribbons on top of one another.  Clip to on either side of the center to hold in place.

Using the 7-10” ribbon, tie a very tight square knot in the center of your stack.

Fold all the ribbons from one side to the opposite side leaving the two bottom ribbons free.  Working from the bottom, tie the ribbons in twos together in tight single knots.

Leave the top two ribbons from the first stack untied.  Clip the top two ribbons from the second stack to the first two ribbons from the first stack.  Repeat the knots starting from the bottom of the second stack.

Tie the remaining 4 ribbons at the top of the stacks together.

Trim the ribbon ends.  Arrange as desired. 

Attach to projects.  Your imagination is your only limitation because May Arts has hundreds of colors and styles of ribbon!!
