Nursery Rhyme Inspired Baby Shower Gift

Hi, it’s Gini, and I have a canvas to share with you today that was inspired by the Hickory Dickory Dock nursery rhyme.  This would be a really sweet gift for a baby shower – and really came together pretty easily using May Arts Ribbons and the chipboard clock from Basically Bare.

Supplies

Designer Notes:

  1.  Cover the clock base with Mod Podge and attach layers of burlap ribbon. Trim the ribbon to the shape of the clock.

  1. Cover the face plate of the clock and the pendulum with patterned paper.  Glue acrylic circle over the patterned paper clock face.  Add ruffled ribbon along the edge of the pendulum using Scor-tape to adhere. Outline the clock using pearls.  Add a ribbon bow to the top of the clock to finish embellishing.

  1. Cut hexagons from coordinating patterned paper.  Start gluing to the canvas using Mod Podge, and work by placing a row down the center, and the line up the other hexagons from that point.  Allow shapes to hang over the edge while you are creating your pattern.  Apply Mod Podge over the top to seal the shapes into place.  After the glue is dry, trim the edges even with the canvas. Use mini alpha stickers to write out the nursery rhyme along the edges of the canvas.
  1. Sew a mouse from felt.  I used to have a pattern for this little guy years ago, and have since lost it, but I just did a search for felt mouse pattern, and came up with this one. Instead of using felt for the tail, I stitched the ruffled ribbon up, and used that, because after all a ribbon tail is much cuter!  I sewed a couple of black beads on for the eyes, and just left loops of sewing thread for the whiskers.  Add your mouse to the base of the clock and you are ready to go!

Next “time” you need a quick baby gift, I hope you will keep this in mind!
