Montina Burt – Cameo Ribbonista

I am in the second chapter of my life!! I retired early from a 21+ year teaching career and relocated from the only place I'd ever lived, Detroit, MI.  I currently live in Lawrenceville, Ga with my teenage daughter and my son who is back with me temporarily while he completes graduate school. I have another adult son who just completed college and is hoping to play professional hockey this coming season. I am a great lover of animals and volunteer at the Georgia SPCA. While I have a Masters degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, my true alma mater will always be Michigan State University.  I consider myself a lifelong crafter. I became mesmerized as a young girl watching Carol Duval on tv in Detroit.  I marvelled at the things she made from everyday household items that were usually thrown away.  I began copying some of her projects and the rest is… well it just is!!

Over the years I have done some of everything. I made most of my clothes and my family's clothes. I made soft sculpture dolls, candles, Black Santas, ornaments and angels. I did ceramics and basket weaving. I've made quilts and scrapbooks. I taught myself to refinish and upholster furniture. I've made jewlery and more. I love taking an old or unused item and giving it an encore creation. So when I decided to try blogging about the things I make, I named my blog Encore Creations.

Some of Montina's favorite projects are shown below:

"…encore creation…" Love it! Those wrapped ornaments are darling…reminds me of fancy truffles. I'm a DIY junkie – if only I had more time! Congrats on your selection!
