Hostess Party Gift Box

We’re winding up summer but that doesn’t mean that the get togethers have to slow down! With May Arts Ribbon, I’ve created a cute little gift to present to the hostess for the end of summer party.

I started with a few simple supplies. I found a new clear, but sturdy take-out box at my local discount store for $.25. I grabbed a few rolls of May Arts Faux Linen Ribbon, in beachy colors (Gold 368-15-28, Teal 368-15-34 and Aqua 368-15-18), May Arts Solid/Center Stitched Ribbon in Teal (380-15-94), May Arts Baker’s Twine in Yellow (412-27), PSA Essentials Custom Self Inker Cartridge, PSA Essentials Peel and Stick Life’s a Beach Stamps, wooden skewers, toothpicks, adhesive and various flower die cuts.

The first part of the gift includes the actual packaging. Why not make it fun and cute, right?

I simply removed the existing rope handles, washed the interior and replaced the rope with about a 12 inch length of May Arts Solid/Center Stitched Ribbon in Teal, knotting each end. For a box topper, I die cut consecutive flowers out of patterned and white paper, layering them from the smallest to the largest.  Before adhering the top flower to the colored flowers, I knotted two ends of a five inch piece of yellow May Arts Baker’s Twine and looped and adhered it to the flowers. The greeting was then adhered.

I filled the box full of the ingredients to make some yummy adult cocktails that reminded me of the beach. In addition to a small bottle, I included some fresh fruit, custom tags and stir sticks, along with a recipe note card.

The custom stir sticks are so fun and easy to make, These will be perfect for the hostess to divvy out to her guests so that they know which drink is theirs when they set them down.

To make the stir sticks, trim down wooden skewers to approximately seven inches. Take a 12 inch length of May Arts Faux Linen Ribbon and create a series of cuts down one side, about ¼ inch from the other side. (These stir sticks were adapted from Martha Stewart.) Start wrapping the ribbon, fringe side up, around the skewer, securing the starting and finishing end with a glue dot. Fluff out the fringe to create for volume.

I also created mini food name tags for the hostess to use for her dishes.

I started creating these by trimming down white cardstock to 5 inches long by 1 inch high, scoring at 2 ½ inches. I then stamped some cute images onto the paper and colored them. I adhered a toothpick in the center fold and glued the two tabs together, and then cut a notch for a flag/banner.

The possibilies are endless for hostess gifts with the offerings of May Arts!
