Day 2 of May Arts / Petaloo Blog Week!
Flower Pot Pen Gift Set
Welcome to May Arts/Petaloo Blog Week! I have a quick project for you today that can be whipped up in time for a co-workers, teachers, friends and even little girls. You can whip this gift up in under an hour. That’s a lot of “Wow” for a little investment.

Don’t you just love these happy colors? I think they’d make anyone’s day better.
Petaloo has an awesome variety of petals and embellishments and if you pair them with the amazing selection of ribbons from May Arts, you can make this little gift set for any season or any occasion.

My flowers are actually ballpoint pens! The dirt? M&M’s…now I bet I have your attention, right?
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own ink pen bloomers:
- Tutorial and supplies for the pens can be found here on the May Arts blog
- 15 Petaloo Flora Doodle flowers (some will be cut up for the leaves), 4 flower centers
- Petaloo Glitter Critters - 1 pkg.
- Low melt glue sticks and hot glue gun
- Other – sewing machine, stick-on pearls, green M&M’s, rubber stamps and banner die – Papertrey Ink, pinking shears, double sided adhesive or glue stick, Glue Dots
Instructions:
1. Cover pens following the tutorial.
2. Use low melt glue sticks and glue gun to glue the flowers and centers together and attach to pen top. To form the leaves, take one large green Flora Doodle and cut the petals apart. Attach 3 “leaves” to the cap of each pen.
3. Attach stick on pearls to the pot. Attach May Arts BY66 leaves with hot glue to pot’s border.
4. Fill the pot with M&M’s (if you spill a few, you have to eat those!) Place the flower pens in the pot. Attach butterflies. (They come with foam adhesive already attached. Love that.)

Love those “sugared” centers!

Card Details:

1. Start with white card base 5.5” x 4.25”. Cut first layer the same size as your base. Stitch with the sewing machine switching from straight to zig zag stitch as you go around. Adhere to card base.
2. Cut second layer 4.5” x 2.5”. Run a line straight stitching and another line of zig-zag stitching from top to bottom. Trim one end with pinking shears. Adhere to card.
3. Cut third layer 4” x 2.5”. Trim one end with pinking shears and attach to card.
4. Cut banner, stamp with sentiment. Attach to card.
5. Use glue gun to stack flowers. Attach to card with Glue Dots. Attach May Arts Leaves with glue dots or double sided adhesive. Add Glitter Critter Dragonfly.

That’s it! A sweet little gift that looks like it came from a boutique gift shop and you did it with Petaloo and May Arts Ribbon!
