Fashionista Magnet Board
I discovered this rusty metal table top tossed aside in a dusty corner of an antique store. As soon as I saw it, visions of a magnetic pin board popped into my head! I wanted it to have a vintage feel, so papers and embellishments from the Fashionista collection by Graphic 45 were a perfect fit. If you can’t find an old table top, you can definitely substitute a magnetic white board or even a piece of sheet metal or an old tray.
Instructions:
Use multi matte gel medium or decoupage medium to glue 12 x 12 papers to the table top. Use a thin, even coat of the medium, burnish down thoroughly, then coat the top of the papers to seal and protect. Allow to dry for about an hour.
Use Scor-Tape to add a border of the Black Satin/Pleats ribbon to the outer edges of the papers and to top the black satin/pleats with crochet ribbon.
The finished board with lots of fun accessories!
I bought magnetic clips for the board, but of course I wanted to jazz them up a bit! I coated flowers from the Graphic 45 Staples collection with Rock Candy Distress Stickles to add some sparkle. Just spread a thin layer on with your finger and it will dry very quickly. Layer 3 flowers of different sizes and add a crystal brad to the center. Cover the magnetic clip with a bit of scrap paper or a sticker and attach the flower using a strong adhesive like Extreme Adhesive Squares from Glue Arts.
My favorite part of the entire project is the dress form and the dresses! The stand is separate from the dresses so they are interchangeable. I will be making lots of more of these pretty little dresses!
Instructions for the dress form stand:
Cut about 4 inches off the top of 3 black pipe cleaners, stack them side by side and use one piece of the extra pipe cleaner to wrap the top and one piece to wrap the bottom of the stand leaving a few inches for the curlicue legs.
Wrap each of the three pipe cleaner stems around your finger to create the curlicues.
Sandwich the top of the pipe cleaners between two cardstock circles and add a magnet.
The finished stand can be placed wherever you wish on your magnetic pin board and topped with the dress of your choice!
I covered this dress in Haute Couture Fashionista paper and added a red silk ribbon sash. The dress is accented with one of the sparkly magnet flowers I created using Graphic 45 Basics flowers.
For this dress I used a combination of Fashionista papers, vintage buttons and ephemera, 1/8” black silk ribbon, Ivory Satin/Pleats, crochet ribbon, and a sewing tissue paper flower.
