Fall Cornucopia Favor

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, it is so much fun to bring out the rustic colors and bountiful textures for decorating! May Arts has teamed up with Stampendous for a week long festive fall showcase and today I’ve created a sweet, little and very easy to construct cornucopia favor.

These darling little cornucopias would be the perfect after dinner snack at a Thanksgiving dinner (before pie that is!) or a sweet little favor for a fall party.

To make these cornucopia favors, I used the Cling Autumn Words Stamp from Stampendous, aged tissue paper, ink, a sheet of gold cardstock, May Arts Burlap Cord, Mini Pom Poms in Yellow, Woven Burlap and various scraps of cardstock and an acorn die.

I started by stamping in a brown ink onto the tissue paper, being careful to place a scrap piece of paper under the tissue in case the ink bled through. The stamp was easy to line up and I was able to cover a whole sheet of tissue in just a few minutes.

Next I constructed the cone of the cornucopia from cardstock. I first rounded the corner of a 4.25 x5.5 cut piece, using a plate for a template. Then, I rolled the paper into a cone shape, securing with some strong adhesive. I did the same to a piece of the stamped tissue paper as well, making sure that the size was slightly larger.

After covering the cornucopia with the stamped tissue, I had a great fall background to embellish with many fibers and textures of ribbon. I punched a whole through both the cardstock and tissue and tied a bow with the cord, looped some of the pom pom ribbon through the bow, and tucked under a piece of pulled burlap. I topped all of this with a die cut acorn and leaf. These would make great place cards too, just by simply writing the name of the person onto the acorn!

Stampendous offers many great fall stamps, and May Arts has a wide variety of ribbons in trims in many textures with the fall color palette…the possibilities are endless for fall decorating!
