Welcome to Day 5 of May Arts / Little Yellow Bicycle blog week!
Fabric Frames Accordion Book

Spring is in the air and the Elizabeth Park collection by Little Yellow Bicycle is bursting with the colors and motifs of a blooming garden! I used a set of 6 Fabric Frames and sweet little flower button dots along with gorgeous May Arts ribbon to create a fun accordion album to celebrate the season.

The fabric frames are gorgeous as they are, but I wanted to add a bit of vintage charm to my project, so I used Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Antique Linen to add some aged patina.

The fabric soaked up the distress stain beautifully, adding an instant antique finish to the frames. To add even more depth, I edged each of the frames with Chai and Chamomile inks from Papertrey.

To create a pocket for images or photos, trim a piece of Kraft cardstock to size for each frame. Use Scor-Tape on three sides of the Kraft cardstock, leaving the top open so you can change up the images in your frames if you wish. {Mark the cardstock in the top right corner to make it easier to match each piece with the correct frame.}

To create the accordion binding, simply attach the frames together on the back with a piece of May Arts crochet lace. Add a 9” piece of crochet lace to the first and last frame to create a closure. Attach the lace with tape to make sure the book is laid out properly. Then to make the binding more secure, go back and use Fabri-Tac to glue the lace to the frames.

Decorate the front of the frames with your favorite flowers and embellishments like vintage clip-on earrings, buttons or whatever you have in your stash! I created rolled roses by twisting May Arts Ivory Sheer/Looped onto a 2” cardstock circle, using Fabri-Tac to adhere. Elizabeth Park Flower Button Dots are perfect for the centers! Use Antique Linen Distress Stain and/or brown ink to add a bit of grunge to the Button Dots.

I used Fabri-Tac to add May Arts Ivory Sheer/Looped trim to the red frame, and then added a rolled rose. For the gray frame, I tied the looped trim around the frame, tied it in a double knot, and then glued on a distressed Button Flower Dot.

The round lavender frame has some lovely images from the Graphics Fairy and a rolled rose on the edge.

The finished accordion book showcases some beautiful images from the Graphics Fairy, but since the frames have pockets, the images can be replaced with photos or other images very easily.
Here’s a list of the materials I used to create the Fabric Frames Accordion Book:

- May Arts Ribbon: Ivory Sheer/Looped Trim, White Crochet Lace
- Little Yellow Bicycle: {Elizabeth Park Collection} Fabric Frames & Flower Button Dots
- Graphics Fairy: Vintage Images
- Chai and Chamomile Ink Pads from Papertrey
- Fabri-Tac & Scor-Tape {1/4”}
