At the summer show in Rosemont, Illinois there were 20 CHA Designer members that were asked to participate in the Craft Couture Designer Challenge that consisted of creating a full size dress that is made from materials that you typically work with as a designer. Candy Rosenberg, a May Arts Prima Ribbonista, was invited to this event. She showed up with a full size gown titled "The Steampunkery Ball" showcasing what she is most known for, her steampunk style using paper products, fussy cutting and tons of May Arts ribbon!
This gown stood 5' 4" tall and the bodice was made completely out of hand-punched 7Gypsies paper and adorned with 7Gypsies ephemera tags throughout. Additionally, the wire skirt was hand cut and rolled that took over 7 hours straight to create then added the tags by hole punching each corner and attaching with ribbon.
After shipping it to the show, setup was 4 hours, adding more found objects and the beautiful hand crafted Raven, by Tamie Richardson, a local artist in Candy's hometown. The awesome chicken wire metal wings, made by one of our newest Prima Ribbonistas Kendra Wiggins, completed the project!
In addition to the full size dress that Candy Rosenberg made for the Challenge, she also made a cocktail paper dress for Elena for a charity event with Charity Wings that was made with Tim Holtz Ideology paper and May Arts Ribbon.
