I’ve never met a cookie I didn’t like and I bet you don’t know anyone either.    I love to share cookies with our neighbors and friends and my DH even uses them as incentives at work.  Hint:  Men will work for cookies.  

Sometimes though, it’s nice to give a gift that the recipient can make themselves at a more convenient time and that’s where cookies in a jar come in handy.  This would be perfect gift for a birthday, Valentine’s Day, a gift for a new mom or even a kitchen themed wedding shower.

Here’s your supply list:

• Wide mouthed 1 quart jar and lid
• Oatmeal Raisin Nut Cookie Mix (you can find a printable recipe here for the mix and the baking instructions)
• May Arts Ribbon Burlap String (SM10), Faux Suede leaves (XL16), Crochet lace (361-78-09), ¼” Taupe Silk (SK35)
• Stamps – Hero Arts Clings Four Hearts
• Ink – SU Regal Rose, Old Olive
• Cardstock – Stampin Up Old Olive, Regal Rose; Papertrey ink Kraft
• Scrap of K& Co. designer paper for lid
• Recollections paper flowers – Michaels
• Helmar 450 Quick Dry (love this stuff!)
• Small hole punch
• Strong double-sided tape

To decorate the jar:

1.  Assemble the ingredients and fill the jar.
2. Trace the jar lid onto the designer paper, cut out and glue to the lid with Helmar 450 Quick Dry
3. Wrap strong double sided tape around the perimeter of the jar lid.  Thread the silk ribbon through the crochet ribbon and attach to the jar lid. 
4. Cut out 3 Faux Suede leaves and attach with glue.  Attach the flowers.  Seal the jar.
5.  Stamp the hearts onto Kraft cardstock.  Cut out and distress the edges, if desired.   Punch with hole punch, thread with Burlap String, knotting the ends.  Tuck one end of the string behind the crochet lace on the lid.

To make the card: 

Copy the mixing instructions.   Print onto cardstock.  Trim the recipe to 5.5” x 3.5”.   Attach a strip of scrap cardstock to the card; wrap with Burlap String.   Layer the recipe card on cardstock which has been cut incrementally ¼”.  Embellish with two Faux Suede leaves and a flower.

That’s it!  A humble oatmeal cookie transformed to vintage lusciousness in minutes with the help of May Arts Ribbon.
