Hi! Chrissy here with a really pretty wreath and tutorial for you. I made this wreath for a friend of mine whose birthday is coming up. He totally loves the shabby chic styling, which presented a unique challenge for me because I do not normally do the shabby chic thing. Needless to say, this wreath definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone and I’m glad I did it.
First, you’ll need supplies. Here are the bare basics of what you’ll need to construct the basic wreath.
Basic Wreath Supplies:
- Coffee filters (I used about 350 filters.)
- Hot glue gun (and a truck load of glue sticks!!)
- Wreath form
- Ribbon to hang the wreath with (I used May Arts ribbon 422-15-08 Single Faced Satin that I had in my stash)
Embellishments:
- May Art Ribbon: 395-15-34 Suede String, HA19 Double Faced Satin)
- Prima Pixie Vines “Fairy Belle”
- Prima Floral Vines (from my stash)
- Handmade Vines (from my stash)
- Canvas Corps Burlap Flowers
- Petaloo “Color Me Crazy” Canvas Flowers
- Buttons (from my stash)
First, you’ll want bunch up the coffee filter and pinch the bottom.
Next, you’ll use your hot glue gun and glue the bunched up flower to your wreath form. Keep doing this until you have covered your form. Seriously, it’s that easy.
Once I finished gluing my filter flowers, I spritzed them Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in “Crocheted Doily” and “Iridescent Gold”. I also misted my canvas flowers and glued them to the burlap. After the mist dried, I arranged my floral cluster and hot glued them right onto the filter flowers.
For my finishing touch, I added a Prima resin cherub and dressed him up using more May Arts ribbon. The beautiful dusty pink satin and blue suede cord really added to the shabby chic look I was trying to achieve.
This really is a simple wreath to make and the simplicity of it speaks volumes. I also love these types of wreaths because they really cater to any style or motif. I do hope you give it a try!

Beautiful and simple…and oh so chic! This would be a perfect project for the ladies in my office. Somehow we ended up with 5 cases of extra large coffee filters (and we don't have an extra large coffeemaker system lol). These were discovered a couple of months ago when we the storeroom got cleaned out and they've been sitting around. Can't wait to show this project to the gals on Monday! Thanks for the inspiration.
