Christmas ‘Joy’ Pillow

Hi, Jenifer here with you today to share this fun and quick pillow with you today.

This technique is called reverse applique, this is where you put your fabric or ribbon in our case under the main fabric then sewed and cut away.

Sew your ribbon down to your scrap fabric making sure you leave enough space between your letters.   You can hand draw your letters or you could print them out on a computer and trace.  I use the Pilot Frixion pens, you can buy these at office supply stores, the pen marks erase with your iron. Pin your canvas fabric down on top of the ribbon fabric you created making sure your letters are placed on the ribbon and there are no gaps.  After you sew around each one of the letters, very carefully cut away at the canvas exposing the ribbon underneath.   Iron carefully not to melt the ribbon, but to get rid of the pen marks.

This is the time to sew down any trim you would want to use.   Tip:  it is easier to apply any trims when your corners are rounded.  Sew front to back.  Turn right side out, insert pillow form and close up the opening either by hand or with the sewing machine.

Here is the back, I decided to make it cute as well by adding a large ric rac to the back.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my project today.  I hope I have inspired you to try a new technique.  Make sure you come back tomorrow for even more inspiration by this talented Design team.
