Welcome To The May
Arts Ribbon Blog
We were thrilled to introduce our new & improved website,
a few months ago. It is fully
interactive & secure, with brand new zoom-in pictures! We have received
fantastic reviews from our devoted customers.
Our goal, though, was to bring
you more than just an online catalog. We
want to make MayArts.com your “one-stop” ribbon resource. We are excited about a few upcoming
additions, from a ribbon “reference guide” to a retail locator. We, at May Arts, want everyone to know where
to buy our ribbons & exactly what to ask for when you are shopping!
This is the next stage of evolution for May Arts Ribbon. We are proud to welcome you to the May Arts
Blog! We will be featuring three lovely
and talented ladies, each of whom will be writing about a different topic.
- En-May Mangels is our own gift wrapping expert! En-May
has represented May Arts Ribbon to the retail gift industry for over 20 years. She shares her experience working with
leading craft, stationery, floral and garden, food, and candy
retailers/manufacturers as they strategize POP displays,
accommodate seasonal changes, redesign packaging; all accomplished
with May Arts ribbon. "Ribbon is not a trend; it's the staple in
packaging. Color, texture, and style of a ribbon are subject to
trend; choosing the perfect ribbon enhances expression, definition,
and value-added features no other embellishment can affordably bring to your
product".
- Leah Farrar-White will be bringing to you all things
scrapbooking! Leah
has been scrapbooking extensively for
the past six years. It started as a
hobby when she moved to Champaign, IL. This
Hobby quickly turned into a passion.
Leah has worked in scrapbooking stores, created and taught classes,
worked for manufacturers, and been a designer for “Two Spotted Dogs”, a
scrapbooking kit club, for the past 3 years.
She currently does freelance design and teaches classes.
- Ellen Highsmith
Silver will be our feature blogger for
quilting! This includes elementary
sewing and/or gluing to accomplish a variety of fabric-related projects –
including wearables, home decorating and needlework. Ellen has designed stitchery kits, patterns
and how-to’s for major magazines, pattern and kit companies; as well as toys,
dolls, and home accessories for the giftware industry. Coincidentally, during the creation of these
designs, ribbons often saved the day. To
name a few examples; they were used as trim, appliquéd roof tiles, sailboat
masts and countless window mullions and muntins. Ribbons easily became graceful garlands and
vines on quilt borders, as well as stems and veins in botanical themes.
We will be posting weekly contests
for our readers. If you’re looking to
get your hands on some yardage of one of our featured May Arts ribbon, stay
tuned! We will be giving them away!
We hope you have
as much fun reading our blog, as we have making it for you! We encourage you to write in with your
thoughts & comments in this blog. We
want you to view yourself as an active participant in our projects. Be sure to keep checking back for new ideas
& projects that will inspire you to create & design, using the ribbon
we have all come to know & love!
