Day 4 of May Arts / Lawn Fawn Blog Week!
What a wonderful week we have here at May Arts. I am so thrilled when I found out we are teaming up with Lawn Fawn. I adore Lawn Fawn stamps from the very moment they came out. And, to my luck, the 2 stamps that May Arts sent to me were the ones that I didn’t have, yet. They are Blissfull Botanicals & Winter Fox. Love!
For today, I made 2 cards to share here. Let’s get on with the first one, shall we? For the first card, I went with a CAS design card and use a couple of my favorite May Arts ribbons. The silk one and the twill stripe one.
Supplies:
- Core’dination cardstock
- Lawn Fawn Blissfull Botanicals
- May Arts Silk Ribbon SK16
- May Arts Twill Stripe 382-34-94
- Sakura white gel pen
How-to:
1. Stamp leaves image and color with copic markers.
2. Cut a strip of silk ribbon and tie a string of thread about 1/3 from the end of the ribbon. Arrange the ribbon so where the tied part lay right under the leaves, then glued the end of the ribbon to the back of the card panel.
3. For the flower ribbon, cut about 6” of twill ribbon, fold in half and adhere the top and bottom edge together. Then cut the folded part with scissors like you’re cutting grass on papers (make sure you don’t cut all the way, just about 2/3 of the way). Then start rolling the ribbon from one end to the other. I used Mighty Mendit. It works like a charm with ribbons. 
You’ll see some frays sticking out, if you like a clean look like me, simply take a lighter and carefully burn all the frays. Doing this also help seal the flowers all around.
4. Adhere flower to the green silk ribbon.
5. Add a little strip of cardstock to the top of the card & stamp sentiment.
For my next card, I decided to go with a holiday theme. In case you didn’t know, Jennifer McGuire and I are running Cards That Care card drive, where our goal is to collect as many holiday cards as possible for the elderly that lives in nursing homes.

Supplies:
- Lawn Fawn Winter Fox
- May Arts Texture Two Tone Ribbon NR46
- May Arts Grosgrain Diagonal Ribbon 336-38-17
- Ranger Red Stickles
- Spellbinders lace Circle Die
- Cuttlebug Dots embossing folder
How-to:
1. For the tree: fold the texture two tone ribbon in two, but not exactly half in half. You want the bottom part of the ribbon to show up and glue the ribbon by the folded part, so the layer part stay soft & pretty. You will repeate this several time (depends on the size of your tree) and as end result you will have pretty layers. It’s easier to explain with picture. Here’s what the layers look like:
2. Cut a panel slightly smaller than the card base. Cut a triangle on the left corner of the panel. Don’t cut too close to the edge as you want to make sure you have enough space to cover the ribbon. Emboss the panel with embossing folder.
3. Add the striped ribbon to the top of the panel.
4. Lay your panel on top of the card, trace where the tree is. Then take your layered ribbon and adhere to the card base.
5. Adhere your panel with pop-dots and the layered ribbon show through the opening.
6. Stamp the fox directly on the panel, part of it will be on top of the tree. Then stamp the fox once again on a piece of scrap, color, fussy cut it, and adhere to card. I do it this way, so I don’t have to fussy cut the eyelash and the steam. You get a cleaner look.
7. Die-cut a lace circle, stamp with sentiment, rub with soft blue chalks, and add to card.
8. Add red stickles to the tree and you’re done!!
I simply love playing with ribbons on my card. You can get texture, shine, prettiness, etc., simply by using ribbons. I hope my projects can inspire you and I hope you will join Jennifer and me on our card drive.

These are so creative – I love that textured ribbon tree behind cute little foxy!
I love these cards! That ribbon on the first matches the cardstock so perfectly that it almost blends in until you see it curve into the cute little flower. So neat and subtle, and the ribbon tree on the second is gorgeous!
