Presentation and personalization can make a gift turn from ordinary into extraordinary. With the help of May Arts Ribbon and Sweet Stamp Shop, I transformed a small gift of gum balls and a thank you card into a grand affair.
First I’ll show you the gift. I purchased two bags of gum balls at the local super store for just a dollar a piece and filled a clear package to the brim with the colorful balls.
Next, I cut about 3 feet of May Arts 1.5 inch Faux Linen Ribbon in White (length will depend on the width, length and depth of your package, pre-measure before cutting!) and in the center adhered some large letter stickers.
I then did a simple stitch through the letters and ribbon. The faux linen ribbon is wonderful for this application as the stitching doesn’t pull and scrunch at the thread line.
Finally, I wrapped the ribbon around the box and tied a big, beautiful bow on top. I really like the linen ribbon for big bows too, because it is thin enough to tie easily but still strong enough to keep the bow shape!
And I can’t give a gift without a card! I chose the sweet gumball machine image from Sweet Stamp Shop’s Sweet Tooth Set, stamped it onto white cardstock, colored it with markers and then for a cute touch, added some beads and glossy accents to the glass part. Isn’t that such a cute way to bring in color, texture and realism to a stamped image? I trimmed out the focal image after stamping a sentiment from Scootin’ By and then adhered it to the card base with foam adhesive. However, I decided that the card needed a bit more, so I added a scrap piece of May Art’s delicious candy striped pink ribbon! (RG17)
I only had about three inches left of the ribbon so after cutting about two inches from the length at an angle, I looped it and stapled the loop. I then tucked it under the focal image on the card and adhered it with a glue dot. I used the last one inch length of ribbon as a tail to the loop, and adhered that to the card base as well. A neat little trick to use up scrap ribbon!

fab way to secure the letters to the ribbon and love how you "faked" the ribbon tab on your card. so clever! thanks so much for the fun project, Karen!
OH MY OH MY! I just love this project and card–FAB idea for the ribbon around the treat!!
These are so cute Karen! I love how you used added stickers and sewing to the faux linen. I have white, purple and pink faux linen… love that stuff!
Brilliant idea with the striped ribbon and I love the touch of Glossy Accents on the gumball machine. The stitching on the letter stickers is such a fun touch too. Such a sweet gift set!
The project is really nice, but I LOVE the plain ribbon with the stitched on letter stickers. Will have to check that out. Nice tip on using up ribbon scraps (and making the supply of them stretch a bit).
That sewing across the ribbon is a neat idea.
Very cute!
Such a simple idea but it makes the world of difference to a lovely gift. I love the stitching through the letters :0)

What a fun and colourful gift and card!
The bubble gum machine is perfect. I like the little bubble gum pieces, and the coloring of the machine is great. You have been practicing with your coloring.
The little beads for candy is SO cute. I love it, and will use it.
A fun gift package and a great card. Love the gumball stamp and the faux linen ribbon. I bet the ribbon could even be inked along with the letters and sewing idea.
How cute. I love the connection of the gum balls and the machine on the card. This would make a cute little "goodie bag" gift for a party or what kid (big or small) wouldn't love to have a bag of gum balls on the front of a gift. Very cute and versatile!
Very fun and colorful gift idea! I like the beads and glossy accents on the card and both types of ribbon.
The tiny addition of ribbon makes it sooooo cute.
I'm just speachless at the creative talent here! So stinkin cute! TFS Lyn

I love how you incorporated ribbon into the gumball card. It's simple, but so effective.
What an adorable little ensemble! I just love that you used little beads for the gumballs and stitching the letters on the ribbon looks great!
Great gift, so bright and colorful, and fun! Love that gumball stamp, and of course, the May Arts ribbons are yummy too!
These are both fabulous Karen. You did a great job with that ribbon. I love this idea. The possibilities are endless. Thanks for sharing.
Both are very cute. I love the ribbon you used and how you used it. Thanks for sharing.
